Types of Korean student visa
There are two types of Korean Student Visas. You need D-2 Visa for studying in Universities and D-4 Visa for Korean language courses.
D-2 Student visa

D-4 Student visa

Registration and Korean visa application
If you want to apply for a Korean student visa, you need to apply for a Korean language course at a Korean university and to obtain an admission certificate.
You have to submit the application form and the entire documentation in 2 to 3 months before the start of your course. Terms in South Korea start in March, June, September and December. You have option to register for one year in advance and then finish the registration procedures before the deadline.
The documents required to enroll at a Korean university are as follows:

- Motivational letter in English language
- Copy of valid passport
- Recent passport size photographs
- A Copy of the most recent education qualification
- A Copy of high school or university exams report

After enrolled in the Korean school
When you provide all the documents required by the school, the school will prepare the invoice for the school fee payment. Fee Payment must be made by international bank transfer in Euros or US dollars as it is not possible to send payments in Won from abroad.
When the payment receipt is confirmed, the Korean school will be ready to issue the admission certificate which is called as Certificate of Admission. This is a necessary document to get a Korean student visa. To finish the student visa procedures, you will have to go with your certificate of Admission to your local Korean embassy.
At the Korean embassy you will also provide a series of documents, which is same as ones already used for enrolling in the school.
D-4 student visa Validity
For the student visa to be valid it must be stamped upon your arrival at the airport in South Korea. To enter in Korea with this visa, you have 90 days from the moment it is issued at the embassy. Its validity is from the day of your arrival in South Korea and from passport controls at the airport.
The student visa is valid only for the period of study at the Korean university and is linked to the course itself. When you complete the language course you can stay in South Korea for a few days before returning your home country, but you must be careful not to exceed the expiry date on your visa.
Part-time work in South Korea
Candidates who get a D-4 Korean student visa can start working part-time after the first 6 months in South Korea. Language students can work up to 20 hours per week, but recently Korean schools are becoming more inflexible and demanding.
In candidate want to work part-time, some Korean schools require a high level of attendance in class which is minimum 90% and level of Korean equal to at least a TOPIK 2 certificate. Otherwise, the limit of working hours is 10 hours per week in South Korea.
